With the economy practically in shambles and prices and unemployment consistently rising, many people are starting a job search for a part-time position.
A part-time job may be a way for a stay-at-home person to pick up some extra cash or a student to help pay for their expenses. It also may be a way for someone already working to earn some extra money or enhance their job security.
No matter the reason you may be looking for a part-time job, there are some tips that can help you get hired, according to an article by Best Syndication:
- First, it’s important to put together a simple resume if you don’t already have one. The resume should state that you’re looking for part-time work.
- It’s important to remember that appearance matters. First impressions are crucial, and you should look your best if you want to get the job. Those searching for part-time jobs should have some formal clothes to wear to interviews or first-time meetings.
- To help stay organized, the job seeker should make a list of places they want to apply, whether online or in person.
- You should be prepared to hear “no.” This shouldn’t cause disappointment, as all the part-time positions within a company may already be filled, the company may be overstaffed or the company may not have part-time jobs meeting your qualifications.
- Lastly, it’s important to follow up with places you’ve applied. You can either call the company to inquire about any positions, or ask to meet with someone on a specific day at a specific time to discuss your options.
