Las Vegas Hospitality Jobs Get Rocked
June 3rd, 2009

Although the city has taken a hit as of late, one tourist destination is doing its part to help create more Las Vegas hospitality jobs.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is planning to hire a total of 1,200 workers by the end of the year to help fill a variety of positions that have become available because of the company’s expansion. The company has already hired 400 new workers and plans to hire 800 more before the end of the year.

Positions to be filled include call dealers, housekeeping staff, bellmen, front desk agents, room reservation agents and EVS attendants. According to an article by KVBC, the company also is planning to host a series of job fairs throughout the summer, but specific dates and times have not yet been released.

“We are thrilled to be moving right along with our expansion and as a result providing jobs for so many people,” Carrie Messina, vice president of human resources for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, said in the article. “Hard Rock is looking for the most talented, highly motivated, expert staff Las Vegas has to offer.”

Hard Rock is currently undergoing a $750 million expansion. When completed, the property will more than triple in size. Most recently, the company celebrated the opening of a new $60 million concert venue, The Joint; Hart & Huntington Tattoo Co.; 51,000-square-feet of additional meeting and convention space and Rare 120°, a contemporary steakhouse.

Also on the docket is an all-suite 15-story south tower; a new 17-story north tower; about 30,000-square-feet of additional casino space; a new nightclub; multiple retail outlets; a new spa and health club and pool expansion. The expansion, which began in 2007, should be completed early next year.
